This is so odd about the three days teaching the class: my body hurt from not working. One would think that not crawling on the floor, working the edger or just being a floor guy would not hurt, but my body was in shock from not working.
Wednesday I will be going to Algood, Tenn., to help a contractor with a big machine; they are having trouble with lines in the floor, so I was asked to go help them out. Now if that does not make you feel good-your peers asking for your help and insight. Here is the part that makes me just a bit nervous: I'm going to drive 4 hours one way, so I best be able to help. Talk about egg on your face; but it should be good.
This week's job is doing the rest of the install at Nash's house. The great thing is I am using the lines that Nash laid out, so as I came down the hall and worked my way into the main room, the flooring was dead on! I will have to adjust for the kitchen area about 1/8 inch so that it will keep the look right. Now that is laying the lines out...Just goes to show that if the math is done and the extra time to make sure the lay out is good; it will all fall in place.
This is great news: Our new state representative, Tim Wirgau, was at the Lighthouse Buffet restaurant tonight here in Paris, Tenn., where we were having dinner. Well, me being me, I went over and gave him a handshake and congratulations. Then I expressed my concerns with workers comp troubles and, most of all, the wave of guys calling themselves flooring contractors and not paying for insurance, comp, a business license and most of all, TAXES. His words were "That is on the list of hot topics for the new state governor." I am not trying to take work or food from others, I just want them to play with in the same rules and guidelines that we all must follow. Time will tell the story.
