We got the 1,500 installed Friday by 1:30, cleaned up and were out the door before 2:30. Nice week of work, the only thing that made us take more time was the 45 we had to install it on. I have got to be honest: We got off a bit on the layout, so we took a few rows and made the adjustments to pull everything back in line. It was one of those where we took 3-inch and cut it down to make it look good to the eye. I still like to bring in a little larger flooring on large install work, just in case we run into mistakes or need it along the wall lines. It helps almost every time, and we are all glad to be able to make it look right to the walls and the naked eye. We turned the hammers on high: 1,500 feet in 3 1/2 days, with just me and Clifford.

Mr. Rodger will install the border this week, so we are done on that one. I am getting ready to start a 2,000-foot sand & finish this week. The bad news is Clifford does not have the training for sand & finish, so here I go alone... just a few long days ahead. I am glad that it is a close job, so putting in long days will be easy. The rooms are a good size, but I am not looking forward to the closet work. There is lots of edger work on this job, plus I need to repair some water damage around the foyer doors. The great thing is that it will be simple to do the repairs, then sand the floor to blend everything in, with no color match or blending.
I have to run to a job in the morning to check the RH in the crawl and stick the subfloor. They had a ton of mold, and the subfloor was 18% a few weeks back-just too high for flooring, so they installed a unit to control the entire crawl space...hope it is working.
I lost a job today to the "Box Store." They told them they will have a lifetime warranty on the finish and that the subfloor will not matter as long as they keep the vents open in the crawl. I did a test 2 weeks ago and it was 18% then; did I tell you this home is 75 feet off the lake? They are putting in factory finish 3 1/4 solid flooring on the lake with the subfloor at 18%. "Look out, cupped floor!" is all I can say. I know it is ugly to say this, but sometimes it would feel good to say, "Told you so...na-na na-na na-na." Ugly, yes, but it feels good for the moment. Now, I did not say that...wish I could.
We all know a lifetime warranty is going to cover cupped flooring. I hope they do not use plastic as a retarder; I have seen it done around these parts of the world way too much. Oh well, good luck box store, and good luck homeowner...
