Getting Juiced Up...

... No, not like Barry Bonds!

One of the funny things about me that some readers might not have picked up on is that I'm sort of an oddball in what I find interesting. I always have found it really interesting that contracting puts a strain on figuring out a balance on your health. Your schedule is always changing a little bit here and there, so finding time never really happens. We have to make time for your health first and then go to work, unless you want to feel like a walking zombie.

Scotts New JuicerThe other day I happened to catch a movie on Netflix called "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead" about a guy's lifestyle change. It had a pretty big impact, and I figured why not give it a go? Who couldn't tolerate 10 days of living on nothing but juiced vegetables? I thought that would work for me, but I realized after the first day that was quite a big change, so I created sort of a hybrid plan using juiced vegetables and salad during the day followed by a normal dinner.

Now some of you may be thinking at this point, "What's all this stuff about"? I'm here to tell you how it's taken hold at this point. Before I begin, let me tell you about my general appetite: I love food, and I can eat a lot quickly. Just ask some of the people who know me. That's all good, but lately I was feeling like the years were starting to add up and I needed a change. Since I've switched things in my diet using this juicer, I've lost the lower back pain (that I thought was just part of being a floor guy) and the feelings of what I thought was tendinitis in my left shoulder. My skin has cleared up and I don't get crazy hunger swings and hypoglycemia like I used to. So far I'm about 10 days in and haven't felt deprived at all because I get the "good" stuff at night, like a burger or a burrito.

I know that this is a contractor blog and we're supposed to talk about things like sanding, but I wanted to steer off topic for today. I finally feel like I've found a system that has made me feel better a lot better everyday. I write for this crowd to try to help make life as a contractor better, and that goes beyond technique with a saw. Check that movie out if you get the chance.
