WFB Blogger Roy Reichow, founder at National Wood Floor Consultants Inc. in East Bethel, Minn., remembers a job where he was contracted to refinish the entire first floor with poly. Upon completion of the final coat, he was going out through the garage when the family cat managed to get through an open screen door and into the kitchen. Confused by the empty rooms and wet finish, it started racing toward the bedrooms. The homeowner was standing right there and said, "I hate her d#&@ cat!" Before Reichow could stop him he ran into the house, chasing it across the OMU. As he and the cat ran out into the garage, he looked back and saw the damage he had just created. He then begged Reichow to come back in and repair the damage, but Reichow explained that it would have to be accessed the next day once the floor was dry. The man said his wife was returning the next day from a trip and expected it to be completed. In his frustration, walking back to the car, he muttered to himself, "This cat will outlive this second marriage!" To add insult to injury, Reichow recalls, "When it was all done, the catprints flowed out, and you couldn't see them, but his size-12 feet actually made puddles in the finish."
