
Daniel Reddy of Reddy’s Hardwood Flooring in Addison, Ill., is not only a business owner and master wood floor craftsman, he's an avid fisherman. So when he needed an escape from the day-in, day-out grind of running a wood floor business this summer, he headed north to a remote spot in a isolated fish camp reachable only by boat in Ontario, Canada. One day, he went ashore on a half-acre island deep in the remote lake—a 45-minute boat ride from his already-remote camp—to make shore lunch. When he climbed off the boat in the wilderness, this is what he saw:
... inexplicably, a sole piece of red oak flooring.
"I couldn't believe it," he says. "I can only imagine it was for firewood."
