Add together a Chevrolet 502 ci big block motor, a 1991 Chevy and several gallons of wood floor paint, and what do you get? An epic, one-of-a-kind wood floor truck, that’s what. Such a vehicle could only come from the creative mind of Louisville, Ky.-based Louisville’s Best Choice Flooring Owner John Booth, who purchased the ’91 Chevy from a client after spotting it in their garage. “It just was like a vision I had,” he says of the project. He sanded the Chevy’s body down using a random orbital sander, starting with 80-grit and working up to 320-grit. “Everything was floor-related,” Booth says of the products he used to customize the truck. For the painting he used a black matte polyurethane paint mixed with “pearl gold” mica powder, spraying on seven coats. (“The first two were for learning,” Booth says.) When it came to installing the new motor, Booth relied on the help of car-savvy friends Andy Carney, Chad Lanham and Drew Tarr. For his company name and phone number, Booth used vinyl graphics with a black walnut background for an extra pop. After months of work, Booth’s vision finally came roaring to life, and the floor-inspired vehicle turns more than a few heads when out and about. “I just wanted to do something different that nobody else has done,” Booth says. “Typical John Booth sh*t.”
