Manufacturer News Mullican Flooring (Johnson City, Tenn.) is expanding its Johnson City manufacturing operation with a $6 million investment. The company is adding another production line for solid prefinished flooring, increasing the plant's production of solid prefinished flooring by 50 percent. The line will be operational by March 1; 25 new jobs will be added during the first quarter of 2010. An additional 50 jobs are expected to be created over the next two years. The expansion project is being partially funded through a loan from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

Armstrong Floor Products N.A.'s (Lancaster, Pa.) Somerset, Ky., engineered hardwood flooring plant has received FSC Chain of Custody certification. The plant can produce FSC-certified products in multiple domestic species, including oak, maple, hickory and walnut. The plant produces products for the Armstrong, Bruce and Capella hardwood lines.

Distributor News Borth and Associates (Simi Valley, Calif.) has been named a distributor for Ashawa Bay Hardwood Flooring's (Cook, Minn.) Thick, Wide and Long unfinished engineered flooring for Southern California. Borth and Associates can be reached at 805/583-3158.

Dealer News Summit Custom Hardwood Flooring (Sherwood Park, Alberta) is opening a new storefront in February at 2257 Premier Way, Suite 200, Sherwood Park, Alberta. This retail location will focus on on-site finished flooring from W.D. Flooring, as well as exotic species. It will also provide Mirage prefinished products. People News Lumber Liquidators Inc. (Toano, Va.) has named Glenn Sharpe senior vice president of supply chain. Sharpe will oversee the company's supply chain and logistics operations and will report directly to president and CEO Jeffrey W. Griffiths. Sharpe replaces Rick Boucher, who is leaving the company to pursue other interests.

Association News Correction: The NWFA's Environmental Craftsmanship Award is not limited to Wood Floor of the Year entries, as previously stated; the award is open to any professional installed wood floor that "most exhibits creative and responsible environmental stewardship in its methods of installation, raw material sources and/or contribution to human well being in the indoor building environment." Judging for this award will be conducted by the environmental design community, and will take place at the NWFA 2010 Convention in Washington, D.C., March 22 - 25. Entrants must complete an entry form, which can be found at www.nwfa.org/blasts/Convention/NWFA_Environmental_Craftsmanship.pdf. The submission deadline is Feb. 19, 2010.
