All American Handyman Logo6

All American Handyman Logo6 Think you have what it takes to be HGTV's next reality star? Starting in January, the cable channel will hold casting calls across the United States in search of cast members for "All American Handyman," its upcoming "jack of all trades" reality competition series.

"We are in search of the 'go to' person when it comes to quick fixes; a problem solver, someone who knows a little bit about everything when it comes to handiwork around the house," says HGTV Casting Assistant Andrea Cinque. "Essentially, we are looking for highly skilled men and women from all different backgrounds and careers that have the personality and DIY knowledge to compete in a handyman competition."

The winner of the competition will receive a prize package worth $20,000.

Casting calls begin at 10 a.m. and end at noon. Following are dates and locations, as well as an e-mail address for more information.

Hopeful cast members should bring a completed application, two photos of themselves, six photos of their handiwork, and a résumé. The application is available here. Handymen unable to attend a casting call can submit a home video for consideration.

Who knows-you could end up being HGTV's next star, kind of like celebrity designer Carter Oosterhouse, who will host of the Wood Floor of the Year Awards Luncheon on April 12 at the National Wood Flooring Association's Wood Flooring Expo in Orlando, Fla.
