The NWFA announced today that Brett Miller has been named director of certification and education.

NWFA's Director of Certification and Education Brett Miller, instructing at an NWFA technical school in October 2012 Brett Miller teaches during an NWFA Intermediate Installation, Sand and Finish school held Sept. 26-28 in Las Vegas.

Miller has more than 21 years of experience in the wood flooring industry. Most recently he worked as a regional manager at Basic Coatings. At the NWFA, Miller will be responsible for the development, coordination, implementation and presentation of the NWFA's technical training schools, workshops, and on-line training, as well as the NWFA's certification program, NWFA Certified Professionals. Miller will be on-hand to lead the NWFA's first technical school of 2013, which will be held Jan. 7-12 in New York City. Beginning later this year he will work out of the NWFA headquarters location in St. Louis; he can be reached at [email protected].

"These programs have functioned independently for a number of years," said the NWFA's CEO Michael Martin, "but Brett's experience as both a contractor and a certified installer, sand and finisher, inspector, and finish manufacturer will help drive and grow these programs as the association continues to revamp its technical services."

The NWFA has restructured its technical training offerings for 2013 by offering a series of one-day workshops regionally throughout the U.S. in addition to multiple schools to be held at its St. Louis headquarters. Miller will work with Frank Kroupa, the NWFA's senior director technical training, to expand the association's training as more events are held regionally.

"I am honored to be a part of this organization and the staff that I've always respected so much," Miller said. "I am eager to begin working on creating harmony between the education and certification programs to help strengthen the association and what these programs offer for the professionals in our industry."
