It's budget time on Capitol Hill, and forest management needs support.
The House and Senate Appropriations committees are beginning to sort through what policies will receive more appropriations and which will receive less.
The Hardwood Federation (Washington D.C.) is asking all hardwood industry workers to contact their respective representative and senator and ask them to support active management of the national forests. While hearings start later this spring, the deadlines for members of Congress to make specific requests for funding is fast approaching.
The House Appropriations Committee deadline is March 24 and the Senate committee's is April 9.
