How Many Contractors Knew the Correct RH For Installing Wood Floors?

Recent National Wood Flooring Association newsletters asked contractors, manufacturers and distributors: "What should the relative humidity be for installing and maintaining wood floors? (NWFA Installation Guidelines)."

Respondents chose from a list of possible answers:
10–20 percent
30–50 percent
45–60 percent
Not relevant

Do you know the correct answer? It’s 30–50 percent RH. How many got it right?

Seventy-six percent of contractors chose the correct answer. Of manufacturer respondents, 68 percent were on the money while 27 percent thought it was 45–60 percent RH. Of distributors, 58 percent chose correctly, while 31 percent selected 45–60 percent RH.

No contractors said RH was "not relevant," but 2 percent of manufacturers and 3 percent of distributors did.

The new NWFA newsletter poll is about nailing: "What should the fastener spacing be when blind nailing 3/4-inch solid planks (3 inches or wider)? (NWFA Guidelines)."

Keep an eye on your NWFA membership newsletter in your email this month for a full result recap and the new nailing-related poll.
