In May 2014, Merle B. Smith Company Inc. (Burr Ridge, Ill.) owners Merle B. Smith and Dominic Reda sold the longtime Chicago-area distributor to E.J. Welch Co. (Earth City, Mo.) so that they could retire. Recently Reda contacted Hardwood Floors because he wanted to send this message to the industry:
I regret it has taken me so long to say thank you to all of the Merle B. Smith customers and vendors that worked with me for many years up until May 2014.
Many of you have become friends over the years and we have had some great times and memories. Customer Appreciation day and golf outings were always a lot of fun. I am blessed you have crossed my path in this chapter of my life.
I hope all is well with you. I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your loyalty and kindness.
