Mannington Mills (Salem, N.J.) hosted its annual “Art is Cool” contest for the 13th time on May 12 at its company headquarters.
The event, started by board chairman Keith Campbell in 2003, is a gallery night for high school students. About 100 students, along with their parents and art teachers, from five high schools attended. Winners were chosen from each grade level. The Best of Show award went to Grace Carpenter for her work “Best Friends.”
“Mannington makes floors, and floors are art. It’s a fashion business; it takes a special eye, a special way of looking at things, to be successful,” Campbell told the group, according to a statement. “And we recognize that it takes talent and hard work to create any kind of art. We salute you for your talent, and for pursuing what you love.”
