The Maine Wood Products Association will present reclaimed lumber company Longleaf Lumber (Cambridge, Mass.) with its annual Pine Cone Award at a future awards ceremony.
The Pine Cone Award recognizes small wood manufacturing businesses that innovate and grow. Longleaf is currently expanding its Berwick, Maine, facility and including a photovoltaic solar array for a source of renewable energy.
Longleaf Lumber salvages wood from historic buildings in New England and mills the wood into flooring, as well as paneling, countertops, stair parts and other millwork.
“The success of Longleaf and our ability to expand is based completely upon the quality of the product we work hard to produce,” said Longleaf owner Marc Poirier in a statement.
Correction: Longleaf Lumber is expanding its facility in Berwick, Maine. The original article placed the facility in Massachusetts.
