Forest fire suppression budget needs have sapped money from other United States Forest Service programs, including timber harvest programs, fish and wildlife management, recreation and research, according to a new USFS report.
The USFS is looking for information about the state-level impact of these declining budgets. For example, have business observed reduced timber sales figures, hazardous fuel buildup, declining wildlife habitats or unkempt public access sites?
Those interested in commenting or providing their observations may submit directly to The Hardwood Federation, which will compile all the submissions and send them to USFS.
Email Dana Lee Cole, the federation director, at [email protected].
