American Sanders (Sparta, N.C), exclusively a sander manufacturer for more than half a century, will introduce a full water-based polyurethane floor finish line this fall, said Brian Strickland, VP of product development and marketing.

The floor finish line, TimberGuard, will feature a waterborne one- and two-component finish for both the commercial and residential markets, as well as a two-component sport finish and an array of floor cleaning products.

This is the first non-sanding-related product released since American Sanders was acquired by chemical coating corporation Amano Pioneer Eclipse in March 2014. The product launch is a sign that Pioneer Eclipse (Sparta, N.C.) has completed the transition and is now ready to begin pushing its floor care expertise out through the American Sanders channel, Strickland said.

“On the Pioneer Eclipse side, we have so much experience with floor finishes and to marry that with the industry’s leading line of sanders just makes perfect sense to me,” he said.

TimberGuard is intended for the professional contractor and will only be available through the company’s distribution network. Distributors will now have a single source for both sanding machines and water-based finishes, Strickland said, adding that customers have asked him for an American Sanders-made finish since at least the early 2000s, when he began working for the company as a global product manager.

Strickland said he expects TimberGuard to be on the market in late October.
