China to Require Proof of Legality When Importing Wood from Indonesia

Chinese forestry officials struck an agreement with their counterparts in Indonesia to import only wood that has been certified by Indonesia’s Timber Legality Assurance System (SVLK), according to Fordaq.

The agreement was formed during the Climate Change Conference in Paris.

China is the largest importer of Indonesian wood products. It imported $2 billion in the past 12 months, according to Fordaq.
