The International Standards & Training Alliance developed a Surface Prep Certification in response to the “significant need” for awareness of proper substrate preparation and will host its first certification event June 21.
The event takes place at the Southeast Wisconsin Carpentry Training Center from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. While the program is full and no longer accepting participants, INSTALL is inviting contractors, instructors, manufacturers and the media to watch.
The certification process combines a substrate training curriculum with written and hands-on evaluation. Participants will be assessed on profiling; moisture and alkalinity measuring; and mitigation and ramping, self-leveling, skim coating, mixing and cleaning.
The certification credential features recommendations, specifications and extended warranties from industry manufacturers.
