Before, any judge or prosecutor could oversee criminal logging investigations. General Prosecutor Augustin Lazar hopes this new concept will have greater success in combating illegal logging, he told the news site.
"We are launching a new concept of green justice which involves specialization of judges in this area, establishing a network of specialized magistrates, judicial police officers, experts and to conduct scientific research to see which are the most effective legal instruments to prevent illegal logging," he said.
