Only one in four millennials would call a professional to do home improvement work—the other 75 percent would rather do it themselves, according to a survey of first-time millennial home owners by Better Homes and Gardens.
While 85 percent of millennials see homeownership as a great investment, they approach their homes frugally. Only 50 percent would spend top-dollar to get what they want, and just 36 percent would consider taking out a loan.
"Millennials and millennial 'firsts' are paving their own paths in homeownership based on their own budgets, timeline and needs," said Jill Waage, editorial director of digital content and products, in a statement. "These 'firsts' are replacing big-budget homes and expensive renovations with patience, frugalness and practicality."
