Founder of Denver Hardwood Company (Denver) Bill Sutton passed away Aug. 19 at the age of 88.
Sutton moved to Denver from Hopkinsville, Ky., in 1956 and established the W.C. Sutton Company. He partnered with the Hamar family in 1981 to open Denver Hardwood, where Sutton worked until his retirement in 2009 at age 80.
Sutton attended the recent grand opening celebration for Denver Hardwood’s new location and remarked to his son Mark Sutton, “I just cannot believe how big Denver Hardwood is now!”
Sutton used to joke that he “never met a stranger,” and was admired and respected by all who met him.
