The influx of female construction managers outpaced the occupation’s overall growth of approximately 66% between 2015–2019.
Construction and maintenance painters ranked fifth on the fastest-growing job list with a 64% growth rate, from 32,600 women in the trade to 53,300.
Construction laborers was the seventh fastest growing job for women, reporting a 50% growth, from 47,800 to 71,800 between 2015–2019.
While the number of women in construction increased, the field remains largely dominated by males. In 2019, 90.0% of construction managers were male, and construction and maintenance painters and construction laborers were 91.1% and 96.5% male, respectively, according to the study.
