The Floor Covering Education Foundation announced it will launch a training program for flooring installation at Georgia Northwestern Technical College in Dalton, Ga.
The Basic Floor Covering Installation program, created in partnership with CFI, NWFA and the Ceramic Tile Education Foundation (CTEF), starts Jan. 10 and runs for 10 weeks. It is designed to introduce students to carpet, resilient, hardwood and tile installation.
“We at the FCEF strongly believe that the duplication of a viable and sustainable technical college program across the country will be essential in making long-term progress in mitigating the installation labor issue,” the organization stated.

FCEF also announced that Hoy Lanning, who announced his retirement from his position as president and CEO of JJ Haines last year, will join its board of directors.
“We’re honored and excited that Hoy is willing to continue his work in the flooring industry through his participation on the board,” FCEF Executive Director Jim Aaron stated. “His keen business sense and in-depth understanding of our industry will be a great benefit to the FCEF team.”
