Besse Forest Products Group, which operates sawmills, wood drying facilities and veneer and plywood factories in northern Michigan and Wisconsin, was acquired by Hoffmann Family of Companies, a family-owned conglomerate based in Naples, Fla.
Besse was founded in 1966 and has remained family-owned. The cost of the acquisition was not disclosed.
"The decision to join forces with the Hoffmann Family of Companies was based on their exceptional brand and reputation as a well-run family business,” stated Besse Forest Products Group Owner and CEO Greg Besse, who will remain on as CEO to continue to oversee the operation. “We believe this partnership will not only modernize our operations but also ensure that our legacy continues to thrive."
Hoffmann Family of Companies owns over 100 national brands and employs 9,000 employees with businesses located in 30 countries and 250 locations around the world. It also owns Ferche Millwork, a lumber operation based in Rice, Minn.
