Three students in Greensburg, Pa., were taken to the hospital Nov. 11 after their school “resurfaced” its gym floors, CBS News reported.
One Greensburg Central Catholic Junior Senior High School student was taken to the hospital after he passed out during the school’s Veterans Day program held in the gym. The student’s mother told WPXI News her son now has a concussion.
Another student passed out and fell face-first on the gym floor, requiring him to get stitches on his chin, WPXI News reported.
The Diocese of Greensburg said two gym floors were sanded and refinished over the weekend and ventilated before the program took place Monday, CBS News reported.
The school eventually let the students out early and switched to remote learning on Tuesday and Wednesday, WPXI News reported. Officials said they planned to add more ventilation and reopen the building "after thorough examination by industrial hygienists."
