Spontaneous combustion of rags soaked in wood stain sparked a fire in a multi-story apartment building in Mountain View, Calif., according to the City of Mountain View.

Fire units arrived at the apartment at 6:21 a.m. March 26 to find smoke coming from a maintenance cart in the hallway of the building. Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames with a water extinguisher and ensured the fire did not spread beyond the cart.
