The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and the BRE Group, an international building science center that studies green building, announced a partnership to develop a new industry approach to green building performance, solutions and benchmarking.
The three objectives of the new partnership will be to increase the engagement of existing buildings in measuring and reporting environmental impacts; establish industry-wide common data standards and protocols to make both organizations’ platforms simpler; and identify opportunities to improve sustainability credentials of buildings, communities and cities.
“This collaboration allows us to further leverage our tools and resources to scale up reductions in carbon emissions associated with buildings, and accelerate on all fronts,” USGBC President and CEO Mahesh Ramanujam said in a statement.
