Sika Acquires Merkrete

Sika (Baar, Switzerland) announced it has completed its acquisition of Parex, a top mortar manufacturer and the parent company of Merkrete.

“The Sika Interior Finishing team is very excited about the acquisition of Parex and Merkrete,” the company said in a statement. “As a division that specializes in everything from moisture mitigation, subfloor preparation, and flooring adhesives, adding Merkrete’s tile setting expertise will enhance the portfolio of what the Sika Interior Finishing division is capable of.”

Parex, which encompasses multiple brands specializing in solutions for the construction industry, has a presence in 23 countries and operates 74 plants around the world.

“We warmly welcome all employees of Parex to the Sika family,” Sika CEO Paul Schuler said in a statement.

Sika has subsidiaries in 101 countries and employs more than 20,000 people. It manufactures in more than 200 factories.
