I Hope This Continues

Wayne Lee Headshot

It is nice to have two jobs going at the same time again; we are installing a wood job and doing a shower on the next. I love working and the crews like getting a paycheck. Do not count the chicks before they hatch, but let's hope this keeps going for the year.

Joey and Ray-Ray are doing the install and Jeff and I are working on the shower. It takes both of us to lift the large sheets of "fake" marble... I do not like the way this shower goes together. The curb is a three piece glue-together and it is sealed with silicone water- a water-tight fit???? I am sure it will be water-tight, but I am not sure how to make the curb stand up to time with just the glue holding it.

Joey is the lead man on the install job and they have the first floor done, with a hall and small study room on the second floor. I will go in the morning to make sure it is all good and bring them a heater for the garage so they can do the cutting out of the house. It will be a drag, but the final paint is going on in the rooms that will be carpet.

A friend I know through NWFA-Jamie L. with Diamond Flooring- is helping us with the stuff we need for the next shower job; it is so great to have friends that can help pass on great prices for the supplies. He is also a huge help with his knowledge and skills; he took the time on the phone after-hours to share the insight we will need to complete this job.

Rain and cold are the words for the day; we had to cut the panels in the light rain because it makes a huge mess. In fact, we used a hand-held belt sander to make our fine adjustments to the panels so they would fit tight to the wall. The last panel was so bent and twisted that we had to lay it flat and get it hot with a heat gun to re-form the shape. We left it laying flat with weight to hold the shape as it cools for the night; our hope is it will be flat and easy to install. We installed the panel with the cuts for the mixing valve and shower head today with very little stress; we just dry fit and adjusted as we needed.

I am looking forward to the rest of the week and hope to hear from the insurance folks that we got the job. I need to take 380 feet of 1½ to the water damage job and make sure we get them all done on time. Be safe.
