This Surprise Did Me In

Well the day started okay but went off the wall in a few hours. I went to remove the wood floor in the bathroom and it would not let go. As you can see below, the home has 2¼ American cherry glued to the press board.

I have been told that it will not hold adhesive, but folks, it was a J-O-B job to remove the flooring.

My hands hurt from pulling and beating the flooring up, then taking the pressboard up. I battled it all day… of all days to work alone, of course today was the day. I wanted to just stop and light a match to the floor. I was sure that the flooring was glued like this just in the bathrooom area… but the wood flowing into the bedroom was also glued down. I looked at the rest of the house and realized this job is 100% glued down to pressboard. I got the homeowner and gave them the heads-up. They do not have the funds to make it all right, so now I am doing a job with 3/4 x 2 1/4 on pressboard and I cannot fix it right. The bathroom is going tile and the bedroom I will have to tie in and leave it on press board. I do not like doing stuff like this; I sure wish we could rip out the flooring in the house and have a do-over.

I will nail down the flooring to the bedroom and make sure that is in tight. 1,500 feet of glue-down to pressboard, wow ... someone did a fast one to someone.

I have got to be honest: My body hurts and the bed is calling my name along with Ibuprofen. I took out the vanities, bowl and flooring right down to the subfloor. My pickup bed is full ... I will try to take a photo of a powder room in a pile. It would not surprise me to have 1,400 lbs. of junk in the bed. I will know in the morning when it all goes to the city dump.

You all be safe and get some rest, I am worn out.
