Recently we did a restoration job on this floor in an older home. This is the “before” pic of the floor:
So as you can see below, we replaced boards and resanded to make the floor look almost like new … but there is a slight problem. Compare the photo above with the one below.
After sanding the floor, a previous repair has been uncovered, along with someone's old trick! They colored in an oak repair board of the border to look like the original border. When we had started the repair, we had seen there was some restaining that went on, but we were not sure of the extent.
With some use of Mohawk markers, we made the old oak repair board match the original:
The customer never knew or will ever know!
