AkzoNobel Invests $55 Million in North Carolina Wood Coatings Facility

AkzoNobel announced an investment of $55 million into its High Point, N.C., industrial coatings manufacturing site.

The investment will go toward adding innovative technologies, new infrastructure and other projects to modernize the site, the company said.

“Through this reinvestment in our High Point site, we are driving a historic stake into the ground to push forward our wood coatings business in North America and reinforce our leadership and our commitment to customers in this crucial market,” AkzoNobel CEO Thierry Vanlancker said in a statement.

The investment comes as AkzoNobel celebrates the 100th anniversary of its North America wood coatings business.

Construction at the High Point site is scheduled for completion in 2021.
