Europe Importing Mostly Engineered Wood Flooring

In 2010, multi-layered wood flooring accounted for the lion's share of all wood flooring imported into Europe, according to the Timber Trades Journal Online. Citing statistics from the European Federation of Parquet Importers, engineered wood flooring accounted for 92 percent of Europe's wood flooring imports last year. Specifically, wood flooring imports totaled 6.7 million square meters in 2010, with engineered wood accounting for 6.2 million square meter and solid flooring 558,007 square meters. Though figures from 2009 are not available for comparison, the figures are an improvement for EFPI members, which includes Amorim Revestimentos, Westco, Fetim, Oscar Peschardt & Co, PlyQuet, and the 14-member Global Flooring Alliance. Sales were measured in the geographic territory of Europe regardless of whether the country is a member of the European Union (EU).
