Tarkett Purchases French Wood Flooring Manufacturer Assets

Worldwide flooring firm Tarkett (Nanterre, France) purchased assets of French wood flooring manufacturer Parquets Marty (Cuzorn, France) this week. The acquisition gives Tarkett an additional four production sites in Europe and another 64.6 million square feet of annual production capacity.

Tarkett aims to increase development of its single-strip plank business in southern Europe with the purchase. Tarkett says it has saved 130 jobs in France, and that it will invest $18.4 million in a production site at Cuzorn. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Tarkett employs about 8,800 people around the world and sells all types of flooring. The company operates in more than 100 countries and controls more than 30 production sites. In 2010 the company posted sales of about $2.8 billion.
