The Floor Style Products name is back in business after being purchased by Louisville, Ky.-based National Flooring Distributors Inc.
Exact arrangements have yet to be confirmed, but Floor Style Products will soon operate as a separate division or separate brand of National Flooring Distributors. Included in the purchase was Floor Style Products' entire remaining inventory, including wood flooring sundries, machines, replacement parts and intellectual property.
"We got everything, including the boxes they used to ship with," said Lee Harmeling, president of National Flooring Distributors.
Intellectual property purchased included website domain names, trade names and trademarks, logos, customer lists, vendor lists, employee lists, and four of Floor Style Products' toll-free phone numbers.
In April, Floor Style Products sent a letter notifying debtors that it was winding down; for months prior it had quietly closed branches while rumors abounded about the company's demise.
Eventually, inventory from its satellite branches in Whittier, Calif.; Obetz, Ohio; Dania Beach, Fla.; Rosedale, Md.; and Sparks, Nev., was liquidated. The leftover inventory was moved to its former headquarters in Hastings, Mich., whereupon it was purchased by National Flooring Distributors, according to Harmeling.
Speaking about Floor Style Products' large footprint within the industry, Harmeling said, "They left a hole for a lot of people" when the company closed.
National Flooring Distributors, which opened for business in 1982, operates from its headquarters in Louisville, which is its sole location. The company distributes wood flooring products-including prefinished, unfinished, solid and engineered flooring-across the U.S.
