The North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors (NAFCD) has named recipients of its 2011 Lifetime Achievement Awards. Recipients include Roger Hunt of Flex Credit; and brothers L.A. Train, Kenny Train, and Jeff Train of Swiff Train Co. (Houston); and Donald Wohlfarth Sr. of Bayard Sales Corporation (Middletown, Pa.).
This is the first time that NAFCD has honored more than one individual in a single year with the award, which honors exceptional leadership or contributions that have led to expanding the vision of the floor covering distribution industry.
Roger Hunt began his flooring career in 1952 in wholesale customer service. He eventually was named senior vice president/general manager at Carson Pirie Scott's wholesale division, and next he became executive director of Flex Credit, a floor covering consumer credit association. Scott also serves on the board of directors of the Floor Covering Industry Foundation.
For the past 49 years, L.A., Kenny, and Jeff Train have grown Swiff-Train from a small Texas family business into an international wholesale flooring company with eight branches, as well as a strong import/export business with staff and inventory based in Belgium, China and South Korea.
Don Wohlfarth Sr. began his career in the warehouse at Bayard Sales Corporation. He rose through the ranks and eventually bought the company in the early '90s. He is 79 and still working every day.
The awards will be given during this year's NAFCD Annual Business Meeting, taking place Nov. 9 at the NAFCD & NBMDA Distributor Marketplace, in Nashville, Tenn.
