The Wood Education and Resource Center (WERC), part of the U.S. Forest Service, will host a workshop Jan. 4 in Princeton, W.Va., to discuss the National Wood Flooring Association's (NWFA) Responsible Procurement Program (RPP) for responsible forestry.
Tools wood buyers can use to ensure their purchases are from responsibly managed sources will be presented, and the workshop will include discussion of the growing green product movement.
Don Finkell, CEO at Anderson Hardwood Floors (Clinton, S.C.), will present the origins and purpose of the RPP. Richard Donovan, senior vice president and chief of forestry at the Rainforest Alliance, will share information on the market and regulatory forces driving the wood industry's responsible procurement push.
Jason Grant of Jason Grant Consulting, a main architect of the RPP, will present elements and resources for the program, while NWFA CEO Michael Martin will share information on the program's future.
