The North American Association of Floor Covering Distributors detailed the 2013 profit variable and financial results for a sample of 22 firms in the floor covering distribution business in its 2014 Performance Index Report, released Oct. 20.
The sample was divided into two groups: a typical NAFCD distributor and a high-profit distributor (the top seven firms based on ROA).
A typical NAFCD distributor made $529,652 in sales per employee, had a gross margin of 24.1 percent, an operating expense percentage of 21.6 and the average amount of collection days needed to secure accounts receivable was 35.4. For high-profit distributors, the figures were $644,871, 24.3 percent, 20.6 percent and 33.2 days, respectively.
