Philly Floor Store Founding Member Donates Floor to High School

Joe Glavin, a founding member of the Philadelphia Floor Store Inc. (Conshohocken, Pa.), recently donated wood flooring to a Haverford School, a college preparatory institution in Haverford, Pa.

The donation was for the robotics club. The wood flooring had to be able to withstand students tinkering with robots, and it had to be light in color, so any missing parts or tools would stand out. It also had to be able to be installed below-grade.

Glavin donated engineered hickory wood flooring to meet those requirements, as well as to fit the aesthetics of the LEED Gold-certified building.

“We have about 60 boys spending up to 15 hours a week building robots,” said robotics director Gino Tagaytay in a statement. “With the new dedicated robotics room, we spend less time setting up and cleaning, and more time experimenting and designing.”
