Flooring Industries, a Unilin business unit, will be the exclusive licensing agent of Guangzhou Australian Eucalyptus Timber Floor Co. Ltd.’s compressed wood technologies that were developed in 2014.
Eucalyptus Timber’s technology grabbed attention during Domotex Shanghai in 2014 because it “creates a substantial improvement in the impact and scratch resistance of wood veneers” used in engineered flooring products, the company says, adding that the impact resistance of an oak veneer can improve more than 100 percent, according to Unilin.
"I am convinced that this compressed wood technology has the potential to become a game changer in the engineered wood business, so I am happy to partner up with Unilin's patent and licensing team since they have shown to be very successful in protecting, enforcing and licensing out other important technologies in our industry,” said Peter Chan, owner of Eucalyptus Timber, in a statement.
Unilin’s intellectual property team will showcase the technology next week at its Domotex Shanghai booth.
