On Aug. 21, a home built by the Gary Sinise Foundation with floor donated by National Wood Flooring Association members was given to Marine SSgt. Jason Ross.
Ross had lost his legs and part of his pelvis during a tour of Afghanistan, and the home was customized to suit his unique needs.
“I want to say thanks for everyone coming out and showing their support,” Ross told the crowd at the unveiling. “The home is a tremendous step forward for myself and my family. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, everyone.”
Vice President of Sheoga Hardwood Flooring Barbara Titus, Vice President of Palo Duro Jeff Fairbanks and MAPEI Corp. Business Development Leader A.J. Sacco were at the unveiling event to represent the NWFA. Sheoga donated the floors for Ross' new home. The flooring adhesive was donated by MAPEI Corp. and Galleher handled the delivery of the flooring.
The flooring was installed by NWFA member John Cunningham, owner of West Coast Flooring in Temecula, Calif.
The NWFA announced its partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation in February, and Sinise, the actor who portrayed Lt. Dan in Forrest Gump, was a featured speaker at the NWFA Expo in April.
