Forest America, an organization of private forest landowners that promotes stewardship, is celebrating National Forest Products Week (Oct. 19–25) by asking supporters to send a pre-written message to their local newspapers.
The letter notes that American is the leading producer of wood and wood products and the country’s forests have remained at a constant 755 million acres for more than a century while production volume has doubled since 1953.
The letter ends by asking readers to recognize the contributions of the 10 million forest landowners in the country and their sustainable practices.
