Goodwin Heart Pine Company (Micanopy, Fla.) broke ground on a new prefinishing facility last week.
The facility will allow Goodwin, in partnership with Heritage Wood Finishing Company, to offer a variety of finish and color options, as well as storage for its engineered and factory-finished wood flooring inventory.
Groundbreaking took place on Goodwin’s property; Carol Goodwin told the Ocala Star Banner she wanted a prefinishing facility on-site as opposed to shipping the company’s product to a third-party vendor so the company can control the quality and customize color options with more flexibility.
“[P]re-finishing River-Recovered wood is a challenge because of its resinous nature,” Goodwin said in a statement. “Our proprietary, specially formulated coatings … allow us to satisfy the needs of customers who do not want to finish their floor on site.”
The company will offer a Diamond Finish and UV oil finish, and both are available with custom colors and textures.
