The scholarship is worth $1,000 and will be given annually for five years to the MSJ student who displays academic performance and community engagement.
“When Connor Sports learned of the amazing and inspiring story of Lauren Hill and her courageous battle against the illness that eventually took her life, we asked Mt. St. Joseph University how we could help,” said Connor Sports President and GM Jon Isaacs in a statement.
The inaugural scholarship was presented at Hill’s college during the school’s women’s basketball game to current student Erija Nealeigh.
“I think that Lauren Hill has given the Mount and everyone who has followed her story inspiration and a lot of opportunities and this is another one, so to be able to be one of the recipients and the first one is just amazing,” Nealeigh said.
