Hardwood flooring is the most popular floor covering for homeowners updating their floors during a kitchen renovation, according to the 2016 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study.
The study shows 72 percent of homeowners renovating their kitchen are updating their floors, and 34 percent of these homeowners choose solid hardwood and 12 percent choose engineered wood floors. Ceramic and porcelain tile was the second-most chosen floor covering for the kitchen (27 percent), but mainly in the South.
Bamboo and cork floor coverings were chosen by 4 percent and 2 percent of homeowners, respectively.
