American OEM Wood Floors (Burns, Tenn.) celebrated its partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundations’ R.I.S.E. program by hosting Christian Brown, the first veteran to receive a R.I.S.E. home with American OEM flooring, this summer.
Brown toured the American OEM plant inside the Turney Center Industrial Complex and gave a keynote address to inmates who participated in the American OEM Prison Industry Enterprise program. The program allows inmates to earn a competitive living wage and prepare themselves for a return to civilian life.
R.I.S.E. homes are given to severely wounded veterans and are specially adapted to each homeowners’ needs. American OEM and other National Wood Flooring Association member companies have partnered with R.I.S.E. to donate flooring and labor for house projects.
"We are honored to support the Gary Sinise Foundation and the R.I.S.E. program to create homes designed to restore personal freedom, mobility and self-reliance for some of our nation's most severely wounded heroes," said Allie Finkell, executive vice president of American OEM Wood Floors, in a statement.
