Around 4.42 billion square feet of wood was harvested in the United States in 2015, an increase of 10 percent compared with the wood harvested in 2011, according to Fordaq.
The report, which cites a Wood Resources International analysis, said the increase in log consumption over the five-year period was due to higher lumber and wood pellet production. Hardwood and softwood lumber production increased by 28 percent and 21 percent, respectively, between 2011–2015.
The report is available for purchase online.
