Simple Floors Portland (Portland, Ore.) will install hardwood flooring for free for two Portland-area veterans in time for the holidays.
One veteran served 14 years with the United States Army. She is a single mother of a 7-year-old son and is disabled. The second candidate served five years in the U.S. Air Force, was medically retired as a captain and lost his wife unexpectedly in July.
“Our entire team came up with the idea to honor and bless a single local veteran in our community this year. After reviewing several candidates and their circumstances, we decided to instead provide new flooring to two great Americans,” said Tom Michaud, CEO for Simple Floors Portland, in a statement. “We feel that as a community we are not doing nearly enough to show those who have served just how much we appreciate what they’ve sacrificed and given.”
