October sales of new single-family houses were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 563,000 units, down 1.9 percent from September’s rate of 574,000 units but 17.8 percent above the October 2015 rate of 478,000 units, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
“Though slightly down from last month, new home sales have been on an upward trend since last year,” said Ed Brady, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders, in a statement.
The median sales price for new houses sold in October was $304,500, while the average sale price was $354,900.
