Graf Brothers Flooring (South Shore, Ky.) lost its 75,000-square-foot shipping and lumber warehouse to a fire on the night of Dec. 30.
A guard contacted the company owners around 9:45 p.m. to alert them about smoke coming from the building. Fire crews rushed to the scene. They were able unable to save the warehouse, but crews did contain the fire to only the lumber storage and trimmer line. Other buildings in the South Shore plant complex were not damaged. No one was injured during the fire.
The fire will not impact the company's flooring customers, according to a statement emailed to WFB, and the company said it will continue to meet and exceed customer expectations for current and future orders.
“We are very appreciative of the countless firefighters, volunteers, neighbors, friends, and family who worked tirelessly through the early morning hours,” the company said in post on Facebook. “We were able to contain the fire and save the overwhelming majority of the South Shore plant. Everyone is safe and there were no injuries. Graf Brothers Flooring and Lumber will remain steadfast to our goals and will continue to do business as usual. We will rebuild and continue to be the world’s largest manufacturer of rift and quartered products!”
The cause of the fire is undetermined as of press time.
